MILLERSVILLE, PA | The Lycoming College men’s soccer team survived a long day on Saturday, April 18, 2015, winning four of six matches to win the overall tournament title at the Elizabethtown College and Millersville University Red Card for Cancer Soccer Play Day at the Weaver Field Soccer Complex and Pucillo Field.
The event, hosted at Millersville University, featured 13 Division II and Division III teams from around Pennsylvania and raised more than $600 for cancer research.
The Warriors won the West pool, posting a 3-1 record in four 30-minute games. The squad notched 1-0 wins over Division II Millersville and Rutgers-Camden, the team that defeated the Warriors in the 2013 NCAA Division III Tournament, before turning in a 3-0 win over defending Colonial States Athletic Conference champions Neumann. Even with a 1-0 loss to Dickinson, the Warriors still won the pool to advance to the flight one playoff pool.
In the championship pool, the Warriors tied Lebanon Valley, 0-0, before posting a 2-0 win over York (Pa.), winning the pool with a 1-0-1 record, while second-place York finished 1-1 in the 35-minute matches.
