Baltimore, Maryland. On April 30th at Noon, the Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center will host a media conference and lunch at the East Baltimore Campus of the Johns Hopkins Hospital – Charlotte R. Bloomberg Children’s Center. Italian soccer legends Alessandro “Billy” Costacurta and Paolo Taveggia will join Red Card Cancer to announce the formation of a new national partnership to bring awareness of cancer research and promote a series of summer youth soccer camps hosted by Champions International Camps. Mini soccer clinic for pediatric patients and families to be hosted directly following the remarks.
Champions International Camps were founded by four Italian soccer legends: Alessandro “Billy” Costacurta, Massimo Ambosini, Fabio Cannavaro and Massimo Oddo. These players have conquered the most prestigious National Italian and International awards. Their expertise, passion and values are the basis for their successful international youth camps which are now coming to cities across the US this summer. They have chosen Baltimore to announce their unique partnership with Red Card Cancer and a youth camp from July 17-19th at the Community College of Baltimore County – Essex with UMBC Men’s Soccer Coach Pete Caringi.
Red Card Cancer is a call to action, uniting the soccer community against cancer by supporting cancer research at Johns Hopkins. Red Card Cancer is partnered with Major League Soccer’s D.C. United, collegiate and youth clubs across the country.
“My partners and I had a vision for how to educate youth worldwide in this unique once in a life time camp experience. We are proud to be a part of Red Card Cancer as we want our camps to make a difference and help others.” says Alessandro “Billy” Costacurta, Founder of Champions International Camps.
“As a soccer coach, you have to respect the quality of play these Italian soccer greats bring to the forefront of these camps – we are proud they have chosen Red Card Cancer as a partner” says Paul Payne, Chairman of Red Card Cancer, current Head Men’s Soccer Coach at Bloomsburg University and Past President of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA).

Nelson, Director of the Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center. Representatives from D.C. United are also expected to attend the event. Mini clinic for pediatric patients and their families at the Johns Hopkins Hospital to immediately follow with media access.
